Spring 2008 Market
Farmers’ Fresh Food Market
Farmers’ Fresh Food Network is a farmers owned and run cooperative. We exist to market the produce of our member farms. So we will feature seasonal produce that we pick and deliver fresh. We also have members who bake wonderful breads and muffins with organically grown grains. We have several members who keep bees and provide local honey. And we have growers who provide pasture raised eggs, poultry, lamb, pork and beef.
This year we have revamped our program to make it easier for you to buy fresh local produce, and hopefully make it easier for us to sell it. We are now offering one month as well as three month subscriptions. These subscriptions can begin whenever you want to start. You can try the one month subscription and if it works for you change to the longer subscription. We encourage the three month subscriptions because they make it easier for us to plan what to grow and harvest. Three month subscribers get a discount and first dibs on scarce items.
We are also adding online sales. When we have extra produce, items that require special delivery (like meats) and items that most people may prefer to not receive we will offer them through the online store. Each week we will send out an email announcing what we have for sale through the store and you will have several days to make you order on this website. You do not have to subscribe to the CSA to use the online sales.
In April production picks up and we will start the regular CSA with deliveries to many sites around Atlanta. Produce will include broccoli, cabbage, more variety of greens, early root crops such as turnips, beets, and onions and occasional tomatoes, grown in a greenhouse and picked ripe. In May we will add strawberries, peas, early field tomatoes, and squash. June begins the Summer CSA season with the full range of flavorful summer produce.
Our farmers have learned from the difficulties of last year and added irrigation to make sure we can grow food thoughout the year. We expect to have field ripened tomatoes from mid-May through September. We will have fruit every month from May through October, including; strawberries, blueberries, apples, peaches, figs and muscadines. We are constantly striving to grow the best tasting more healthful produce. We look forward to providing you with some great produce this year.
